A man who had been on death row for three decades for a double slaying in St. Louis died in prison last week, the Missouri Department of Corrections said.

Elroy Preston, 59, was found dead Friday at Potosi Correctional Center in Mineral Point. The department said an autopsy will be conducted but that it "does not suspect foul play was involved."

In 1982, Preston was convicted of fatally stabbing Willie Richardson and Betty Klein, who were living with him in a house in north St. Louis. The killings happened in September 1980 after a night of drinking and a quarrel over fried chicken.

Some guy been on death row in Florida for forty years now. Killed a couple and then while in prison killed a member of staff. So is guilty and waiting execution. Takes FORTY years?
